This year, the management of airports in 4 regions will be given to the private sector. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced this at the plenary session of the second Tashkent International Investment Forum. "Until recently, important sectors of the economy consisted only of state enterprises. As a result of the reforms, private investments are actively entering the previously "closed" industries. For example, in the field of aviation, which was previously considered a 100 percent state network, a wide path has been opened to the private sector," said the head of state. It is noted that the management of Andijan, Namangan, Bukhara and Urganch airports will be handed over to the private sector this year in order to continue reforms aimed at creating a competitive environment in the transport sector. "We are starting big changes in the railway sector, and I ask investors to take an active part in it," said the President. At the same time, the fact that Uzbekistan is becoming a regional hub in the rapidly growing fields of IT, tourism, education, and medicine is a great opportunity in this direction. This year, separate programs worth 14 billion dollars for the introduction of public-private partnerships were developed with the support of international financial institutions. These include such sectors as transport, communal and water management, health care, which are important for the state. In addition, the "1 thousand + 1 thousand + 40" program on the privatization of state property was adopted in Uzbekistan. This means that state shares in 1,000 enterprises and another 1,000 state-owned real estate objects will be put up for public auctions, and 40 enterprises of strategic importance for our economy will be put up for IPO. In particular, shares of large gold and copper producing enterprises, telecommunication and insurance companies and banks are offered to investors.
