President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also spoke about the reform of the Constitution in his speech at the opening ceremony of the second Tashkent International Investment Forum on April 27.
"For the rapid continuation of our reforms, the free development of business in our country, a more solid legal framework is needed.

You know, in the coming days, a nationwide referendum will be held on the updated constitution of the New Uzbekistan.

First of all, in our new Constitution, Uzbekistan is a sovereign, democratic, legal, social and secular state. The noble idea of “human rights and freedoms priority” is being put at the bottom of all amendments. Also, for the first time in our Constitution, ensuring a favorable investment and business environment, creating conditions for property inviolability, the development of market relations and honest competition, the state for judicial independence is making obligations to itself.

Without a doubt, it is inevitable that the new constitution will consistently continue the reforms that we have begun, and, most importantly, give them a non – reversible tone,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

Recall that the referendum on the updated constitution will be held on Sunday, April 30.
