The World Health Organization (WHO) called on the world community to urgently allocate $ 84.5 million to support the earthquake-affected residents of Turkey and Syria in the field of health care. As noted in the WHO press release distributed on February 17 in Geneva, we are talking, in particular, about the supply of vital medicines and medical materials. This is reported by NIAT "Khovar" with reference to the Football Federation of Tajikistan.
"WHO called for an emergency allocation of $ 84.5 million for health needs after the earthquake in Turkey and the Syrian Arab Republic," the report said.
The WHO's response includes "the delivery of life-saving medicines and other medical supplies, the launch of a network of ambulance teams to provide essential health services and care supplies to those in need," the organization said.
Earthquakes of magnitude 7.7 and 7.6 occurred on February 6 with an interval of nine hours in the province of Kahramanmaraş in the south-east of Turkey and led to large-scale destruction and disasters in 10 provinces of the republic. Tremors, followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were also felt in neighboring countries, of which Syria suffered the most. In Turkey, almost 40 thousand people are listed as dead, more than 105.5 thousand people were injured.
