A 45-year-old man was stopped at Germany’s Cologne-Bonn Airport while attempting to bring more than 90 snakes and lizards into the country. According to reports, customs officers noticed that the passenger appeared extremely nervous as he passed through the "green channel"—the area designated for travelers with nothing to declare. During a subsequent check, the man tested positive for cocaine. His suitcase was then searched, revealing black snakes, rattlesnakes, iguanas, and other types of reptiles hidden among shampoo and cream bottles, plastic containers, and socks. It was discovered that the animals had been transported from Mexico to Germany via Istanbul. Some of the animals did not survive the long journey, while those that remained alive have been placed under specialized care.
