On April 6, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis reviewed and approved the draft law on reliable protection of the rights and freedoms of women and children. Saida Mirziyoyeva, head of the branch of the presidential administration, commented on this law and said that the fight was very difficult for everyone. "Once these changes to the Criminal and Administrative Accountability Codes are signed into law by the President, we will finally be able to protect women from domestic violence by holding perpetrators accountable," she said. Saida Mirziyoyeva noted that contact with a minor has now become a serious crime. "We're closing loopholes for people who have had sex with minors and want to avoid prison. Now this act is punishable by long imprisonment. This is a clear signal to the criminals that the state is fighting against any kind of violence!" said the head of the branch of the Presidential Administration. Saida Mirziyoyeva noted that the efforts for these changes have been going on for a long time, the difficult and long road is just the beginning, and thanked everyone who was involved in and supported the processes related to the law.
