The legal processes of the project of establishing trade zones in the regions near the border of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan will be completed by July of this year. This was announced in Tashkent at the meeting of the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of Uzbekistan Laziz Qudratov and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Kazakhstan to our country Beybut Atamkulov. During the conversation, it was noted that the pace of trade and economic cooperation is growing. In the first quarter of this year, the trade turnover of the two countries amounted to 1.09 billion dollars. This is 11 percent higher than the same period last year. During the dialogue, the implementation of the tasks set by the two heads of state was also discussed. Regional relations play an important role in the further expansion of trade and economic cooperation. The project of establishing trade zones in the border areas is also expected to open new opportunities. As we previously reported, it is planned to create an opportunity for citizens of the two countries to trade without obtaining entry-exit stamps in these trade zones. Let's remind that in February of this year, Prime Ministers of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan Alikhan Smailov and Abdulla Aripov met in Almaty and discussed the prospect of increasing the volume of trade to 10 billion dollars.
