Minister of Health Amrillo Inoyatov held a meeting with Jonathan Henik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the USA to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the SSV press service.

It is noted that during the dialogue, mutual opinions were exchanged regarding the financing of new projects in the field of medicine in cooperation with the USA.

In particular, it was mentioned that grant funds for the development of the pharmacopoeia and the establishment of reference laboratories in Uzbekistan will be allocated within the framework of the targeted agreements signed between the Ministry of Health and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in 2023.

At the same time, it was also agreed with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to finance and allocate grants for projects aimed at reducing hepatitis and joint efforts against types A, B, and C of the disease.

At the meeting, Minister Amrillo Inoyatov and Ambassador Jonathan Henik discussed in detail the prospects of improving the qualifications of medical specialists, exchanging personnel and allocating grants in the field of medical education. Finally, it is planned to hold an Uzbekistan-USA international medical forum in the country this year.

In March 2022, it became known that during the last six months, GeneXpert systems for the rapid diagnosis of tuberculosis with a total cost of about 700 thousand dollars were provided to Uzbekistan by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In 2023-2026, it is planned to allocate 33 million dollars from the state budget and 26.5 million dollars from international donors for medicines and consumables, medical equipment, specialist training and innovative scientific research.
