Within the framework of the Uzbekistan-Singapore business forum held in Tashkent on the eve of the visit of the President of Singapore Halima Yaqub to Uzbekistan, agreements were reached between the chairman of the board of Uzbekistan Airports Rano Jorayeva and the general director of Changi Airports Eugene Gan. passed. This was reported by the press service of Uzbekistan Airports.

According to Rano Jorayeva, Tashkent has huge export potential as an international center connecting Europe and Asia. But the existing airport has many limitations, because with the development of the capital, it has become almost in the center of the city.

"Analyzing the flow of passengers, we come to the conclusion that the growth process is very fast. Today, during peak hours, the terminals are barely able to accommodate passengers and there are not enough parking spaces for planes. Therefore, we are working on the issue of building a new airport. As consultants, we offered Changi Airports International, the most advanced airport in the world. Their task is to help us develop a feasibility study, taking into account the use of state-of-the-art airport technologies, to create an international hub and build a new airport. At the same time, representatives of CAI are simultaneously engaged in consulting on optimization of existing airport activities from the point of view of aviation and non-aviation activities," said the Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airports.

It is noted that in 2022, the passenger flow at the country's main airport will reach 5 million passengers, exceeding the pre-pandemic period. According to Uzbekistan Airports analysts, about 8 million passengers are expected in 2023. After the signing of the agreement, the parties will soon start work in two directions: optimization of the existing airport operations, including increasing the competitiveness and quality of passenger services, introducing advanced technologies and increasing the flow of passengers, as well as developing the technical and economic basis of the new Tashkent airport project.

"Changi Airports International is pleased to cooperate with Uzbekistan Airports. Uzbekistan is one of the countries with the fastest growing business and tourism potential in the Central Asian region. We look forward to sharing our expertise in airport development and management to optimize the capacity, operational standards and financial performance of the existing Tashkent airport, as well as to support the development plans for the new airport," said Changi Airports. CEO Eugene Gan.
