The "Malla" onion variety was created by the scientists of the Andijan scientific-experimental station of the scientific-research institute "Vegetables, field crops and potato growing" under the Ministry of Agriculture. Currently, documents for obtaining a patent for this variety have been submitted. This was reported by the press service of the ministry. It is noted that this variety is distinguished by intensive cultivation. The seeds of the new onion variety are sown on the ground in the first ten days of March. 10-12 kilograms of onion seeds are sown on 15 hectares of land, and the onion bulbs harvested from this area reach one hectare. The bulbs are harvested when they are the size of cherries. The bulbs are dried and taken to a separate place. In the first decade of September, 571,400 onions are planted per hectare in 4 rows in a 70×10 scheme. After the bulbs are planted, they are watered once. After that, the onions start to turn blue. Since onions are grown in the cold days of winter, it is not necessary to weed, because during this season the grass dies by itself. Planted onions are processed once in early spring. Cultivation and light feeding are also carried out at once. It is watered twice more. In the spring, that is, on April 15, onions are technically ripe and released to local markets for public consumption. The advantage of the new onion variety is that it ripens a month earlier than the usual onions.
