President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting of video selectors on the rapid development of the tourism potential of our country. It was noted that the measures taken in this regard have begun to yield great results. In particular, the number of foreign tourists who visited our country in 2022 increased 3 times compared to 2021 (5.2 million, export of the sector - 1.6 billion dollars). Within the framework of domestic tourism programs, 11.5 million trips were organized, including 1.5 million of needy residents, young people and the elderly. The establishment of a new tourism center in Samarkand made it possible to attract an additional 2 million tourists. Great preparations are being made to hold the General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization in our country this year. In addition, the fact that Samarkand received the status of the World Tourism Capital in 2023 is one of the high results of the work in this regard.
