The president of Uzbekistan noted the wide opportunities for the development of strategic partnership with Turkmenistan

On January 24, president of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, who was in Tashkent as part of the events of the Council of foreign ministers of the OIC.
Minister Rashid Meredov delivered to the head of state a sincere greeting and good wishes of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the people's consultation, leader of the nation Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the implementation of high-level agreements reached during the state visit of the president of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan on July 14-15, 2022 and the official visit of the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Turkmenistan on October 21-22.

The issues of deepening Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership relations, expanding cooperation in the fields of Economy, Trade, Industrial Cooperation, energy, transport and logistics, intensifying interregional relations and cultural and humanitarian Exchange were considered.

In the first quarter of this year, it was agreed to hold a number of joint events – the next meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Joint Commission on Water Resources, political consultations between foreign ministries, cultural and other events.

Opinions were also exchanged on topical issues of regional and international importance. The plan of the upcoming meetings was considered.
