On March 28-29, an Investment Forum of Tajikistan was held in London on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and with the support of the Government of the country. This is reported by NIAT "Khovar" with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
This Forum, which was held for the first time in the history of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the UK, was attended by a wide range of participants – more than 250 people in total, from among the heads and representatives of ministries and departments of the country, businessmen and investors, heads and representatives of eminent companies and corporations of the world.
The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan at this Forum was represented by the Chairman of the Committee on Investments and State Property Management, with the participation of the Ministers of Agriculture, Energy and Water Resources, Industry and New Technologies and the Chairman of the National Bank of Tajikistan, as well as Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Transport, Finance and other relevant departments of the country.
The purpose of this Forum was to strengthen and develop economic and investment cooperation by creating an open dialogue between businessmen and investors and on this basis – finding new practical ways to create joint ventures.
Within the framework of the Forum, consisting of several plenary and thematic sessions, bilateral meetings of official delegations and businessmen were held in the format of "Entrepreneur with Entrepreneur" (B2B) and "Entrepreneur with Government" (B2G).
Within the framework of this Forum, in order to present the export potential of the Republic of Tajikistan, an exhibition of Tajik products was also organized, where the spheres of industry, mining, agriculture, tourism and banking services were presented. During the exhibition, foreign businessmen were provided with detailed information about the investment climate and investment opportunities in these sectors of the economy, as well as specific investment projects for their further consideration.
As a result of meetings and negotiations between members of official delegations and businessmen of the two countries and private enterprises, 23 new documents on cooperation with a total budget of more than $ 370 million were signed.
At the end of the Investment Forum of Tajikistan, in order to celebrate the International Navruz, a cultural and entertainment program was organized with the participation of guests of the Forum and heads of missions of the diplomatic corps of London, during which famous cultural figures of the republic performed and, presenting the high culture of the Tajik people, pleased the guests with their songs and dances.
It is expected that this forum will contribute to the presentation of export potential, attracting large investments and importing new technologies in the future, as well as strengthening bilateral relations between Tajikistan and the UK in the fields of economy and investment.
