Mandatory digital marking of water and soft drinks is introduced in Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the national operator CRPT TURON.
It is noted that from July 1, 2023, marking will be mandatory for carbonated or non-carbonated water, drinks, as well as non-fermented sweet fruit and vegetable juices, with the exception of grape juice.
Mandatory application of Data Matrix codes for water and soft drinks in metal containers will be introduced from August 2024.
Digital marking is the application of a Special Data Matrix code for packaging goods that store information about a product on an electronic base. As a result, everyone will be able to check and monitor the quality of the goods. For this purpose, the mobile application “original icon” has been created, which allows consumers to report low-quality products and receive the necessary information.
In addition, with the help of the program, entrepreneurs will be able to check the marking of goods and prevent work with alcohol and tobacco products in illegal circulation.
In late March, the period for the suspension of mandatory marking of imported food in the state language was again extended. By the presidential decree “on additional measures to ensure price stability in consumer markets and increase the effectiveness of antitrust measures”, adopted in June 2022, the procedure for compulsory marking of food imported into Uzbekistan in the state language was suspended until January 1, 2023.
