Si Jinping became the country's leader for the first time in Chinese history to be elected chairman for a third term.
On Friday, the deputies of the All-Russian Council of people's Representatives unanimously re-elected Xi Jinping to the post of Chairman of China for a third five-year term, according to the results of the vote.

The election of the head of state took place on Friday morning by secret ballot in plenary session. It was attended by 2,952 deputies.

Xi Jinping became the first leader in China to be elected to a third term as chairman.

In addition, Si Jinping was re-elected to the position of head of the Chinese Central Military Commission, which provides leadership and unified command over all the country's armed forces.

Xi Jinping was first elected chairman of China in March 2013 and re-elected to a second five-year term in March 2018.

The position of chairman in the PRC was established in 1954 with the adoption of the country's Constitution, the first to hold this position was Mao Zedong. The position was terminated in 1975 and restored after seven years. While previously the constitution limited one person to two five-year terms under the presidency of the PRC, in March 2018 the relevant restrictions were removed following amendments to the Constitution.

Xi Jinping will turn 70 this year, and there is no clear forecast of how long he plans to stay in power. According to some analysts, the current leader seeks to maintain his position until at least 2035, when the first stage of "socialist modernization and the restoration of the Chinese people"is planned.

Within the framework of the first stage, the foundation will be laid for the construction of a middle-income society in China, the modernization of the army, the implementation of social, economic and political reforms is intended.
