Press Secretary: The community of Western Azerbaijan has sent appeals to the President of the EU Council and PACE

The community of Western Azerbaijan sent appeals to the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel, as well as to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and called on these structures to ensure the right of Western Azerbaijanis to return.

The press secretary of the Community of Western Azerbaijan, Ulvia Zulfigar, said this in a statement to Report.

She said that the Community is waiting for a response to appeals from both the President of the Council of the European Union Charles Michel and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe: "The return of Western Azerbaijanis is a human rights issue, and the charters of each of the mentioned international organizations contain clauses and obligations on these rights. Therefore, they must respond to our appeal related to ensuring the rights of hundreds of thousands of Western Azerbaijanis, they cannot ignore it."

U. Zulfigar stressed that all Azerbaijanis expelled from the territory of present-day Armenia should return to their lands: "Deportation is a crime against humanity. Hundreds of thousands of our compatriots whose fundamental human rights have been violated must return to their homes, to the lands where they were born."
