At the end of 2022, the British-Netherlands joint venture Shell earned more than 36 billion euros. This is two times more than last year's figure and is the highest result in the company's history, the BBC reported.
The increase in the income of the oil and gas giant caused the price of fuel to rise. After the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, the price of oil of the Brent brand reached almost $ 128 per barrel. True, later it fell to $ 83, but in August, gas prices in Europe reached a record level and amounted to 340 euros per megawatt-hour. The high income of the company and competitors forced the British government to introduce a separate type of tax for operators of the North Sea pipeline last year.
According to Reuters, Shell can pay more than 2 billion euros in taxes for 2022. By the way, during the energy crisis, Norway's revenue from oil and gas sales increased by 200 percent.
