President Serdar Berdimuhamedov dismissed the two deputy prime minister in charge of the energy sector.
President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a number of changes in the fuel and energy complex of the Republic. In particular, two deputy prime ministers – Shahim Abdurahmanov, who headed the oil and gas complex, and Chorimurod Purchekov, responsible for the issues of electricity, construction and industry, were dismissed from his post.
According to the Neftegaz Edition, changes in the fuel and energy complex of Turkmenistan were "expected" and are associated with problems that occurred in January of this year in the gas field "Galkinish" and led to a break in the supply of gas to Uzbekistan. An audit conducted by the prosecutor general's office showed that the amount of damage caused during the 6 days when gas supplies to the neighboring Republic stopped was $ 59.7 million.
Earlier, at the Turkmengaz State concern in Turkmenistan, 6 people were arrested, including the head of the Department of material and technical resources and equipment Shakhrat Dragonrov and Shakhrat Chopanov, acting head of the Turkmengazaqdirish Association. They were found guilty of an accident at the largest gas field "Galqinish" in Turkmenistan and the stoppage of gas supplies to Uzbekistan in the cold days of January.
Turkmen.according to news, the Uzbek side demanded a large amount of monetary compensation from Turkmenistan due to a disruption in gas supplies. However, after the negotiations, the Uzbek side agreed to take liquefied gas in the amount of damage caused. In the official press of Turkmenistan, the free issuance of liquefied gas is presented as "friendly and fraternal assistance to the neighboring country."
The Ministry of energy of Uzbekistan rejected this news and said that the news that Uzbekistan demanded a large amount of monetary compensation because of the interruption in gas supplies from Turkmenistan was unfounded.
"The Ministry of energy informs that these messages have no basis and absolutely do not correspond to reality... we note that the liquefied gas party was provided free of charge by Turkmenistan in order to provide friendly and fraternal support to Uzbekistan," the message said.
The Ministry of Energy added that the liquefied gas provided by Turkmenistan "will be distributed free of charge to needy families in the coming days."
