On Friday, February 3, a meeting of representatives of Hazar balyk OJSC and leading specialists in the field of marine fish research from Belgium took place in Ashgabat. The discussion focuses on the development of a project for the breeding of artemia salina – small crustaceans that are widely used as live fish food. This was announced by the company's CEO S. Atayev in an interview he gave to the online publication "Business Turkmenistan".

This project is designed to solve the problem of ensuring a full-fledged fish nutrition through the breeding of artemia salina and the use of egg-cysts in the nutritional diet of sturgeon. Artemia salina is widely used in fish farms as a fodder crop with high nutritional properties. A pilot project for breeding this crop is planned to be launched by 2024.

At the talks on Friday, the parties discussed various indicators of the Caspian Sea and climatic conditions in terms of opportunities for breeding artemia.
