It was said that the project parameters of the three-way gas union between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are being developed.
Currently, the parameters of the "tripartite" Gas Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are being developed and the size of capital investments is being determined. This was stated by Mikhail Galuzin, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, in an interview with the RIA Novosti agency.
"Currently, the parameters of the probable project are being developed at the expert level. It is necessary to clarify the real needs of partners, the volume of future investments," said the diplomat.
He expressed confidence that sustainable and long-term gas delivery will serve the energy security and sustainable development of the entire Central Asian region. Galuzin called the prospects for the development of three-way cooperation in the gas sector "good".
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakh President Kasim-Zhumart Tukayev discussed the issue of forming a "three-way" alliance in the gas sector with the participation of Uzbekistan at a meeting in the Kremlin at the end of November last year. It was said that the purpose of the"union" was to coordinate efforts to transport gas from Russia to the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
On 14 April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the countries had managed to move forward when discussing the idea of an alliance. He noted that"when the parties agree on both the terms of transit and the terms of the price, everyone will win if they are satisfied with everything." Other details of the cooperation of Moscow, Astana and Tashkent are not provided.
