This year, during Ramadan Hayit, Uzbekistanis rested for four days in a row.
Recall that in December last year, the president signed a decree on the establishment of additional non-working days during the celebration of official dates and the postponement of weekends in 2023. On April 20 of this year, the head of state amended the above document by a new decree.
According to the new decree, June 30 (Friday) is declared an additional day off for all employees, regardless of the type of working week.
In addition, July 1 (Saturday) will be an additional day off for employees with a 6-day working week.
Earlier it was reported that the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan decided that this year Ramadan Hayit falls on Friday, April 21. Kurban Hayit has no fixed date, it is celebrated 70 days after Ramadan Hayit.
Previously, in 2023, Kurban Hayit will be celebrated on June 29 (Thursday). However, now in various sources the dates vary – from June 28 to June 30. In particular, the spiritual administration of Muslims of Tatarstan believes that Kurban Hayit will be celebrated on June 28.
In Uzbekistan, the exact date will be set closer to the holiday. According to the legislation, the day of celebration can be postponed for one day.
Thus, in Kurban Hayit, residents of Uzbekistan will rest for at least three days in a row:
- June 30, 2023 (Friday) – an additional day off for all employees, regardless of the type of working week;
- July 1, 2023 (Saturday) – an additional day off for employees with a 6-day working week;
- July 2, 2023 (Sunday) is a day off according to the calendar.
If Kurban Hayit is celebrated on June 29 (Thursday), then Uzbekistanis will rest for four days in a row.
