Financial fines will be imposed on those who allow waste in food in Uzbekistan

In accordance with the presidential decision”on measures to effectively organize the activities of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and climate change“, the program” reasonable consumption " will be developed in Uzbekistan.

The resolution establishes that by July 2023, in order to reduce the production of food waste in the catering sector and prevent excessive wastage, and to introduce the recommendations of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, a reasonable consumption program will be developed and introduced into the Cabinet of Ministers:

at events organized by state bodies, it is necessary to establish a reasonable norm of food consumption, reduce excessive consumption, including the norm of one-time meals per person;
increasing the responsibility of entrepreneurs and consumers in the field of catering towards food;
the formation of proper eating habits among the population and the Prevention of excessive waste and the restriction of the promotion of consumption above normal;
the application of financial measures and the establishment of control mechanisms for persons who have committed waste.
Also, according to this decision, the rating system “economical house” and “economical apartment” will be launched in Uzbekistan between multi-storey houses for drinking water use. At the end of the year, 20 apartments with the lowest water use and 20 apartment buildings with more than 50% of their apartments using less than the established standards are encouraged. The winning apartments and houses are provided with free installation of solar panels or lighting around the House.
