In the face of ongoing armed conflict in the country, Saudi Arabia has encouraged the withdrawal of large numbers of people.
More than 200 citizens from different states were evacuated from Sudan on 26 April and transported to Jeddah. This was reported by Al Arabiya, relying on the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Evacuees from Sudan with the help of Saudi Arabia are said to include citizens of Russia, the United Kingdom, China, the United States, Uzbekistan, Yemen, Singapore, Cambodia, Malaysia and Pakistan.

The number and name of the evacuated citizens of Uzbekistan are not mentioned in the message.

According to the SPA, the evacuees were transported to Jeddah aboard HMS Abha, and the Kingdom "provides them with all their needs to prepare them for departure to their home country".

It is noted that approximately 2,351 people have been removed from Sudan since the start of the evacuation, including 119 citizens of Saudi Arabia and 2,232 citizens of 67 States.

According to the World Health Organization (who), at least 459 people were killed in the conflict that began on 15 April in Sudan, with over 4,000 injured.

Fighting is taking place in the country between troops loyal to Army Commander Abdulfattoh al-Burkhan and his former deputy, his rival Muhammad Hamdan Daglo, who commanded the Rapid Support Force (RSF).
