In Nagorno-Karabakh, there was a shooting between the security forces of Azerbaijan and Armenia, there are victims and injured on both sides. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan.
According to the Ministry of defense of Azerbaijan, the Armenian side tried to transfer military equipment, ammunition and soldiers to Azerbaijan, where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is located along the Hankendi-Khalfali-Tursu Highway. The Azerbaijani border guards stopped them to check the documents, after which the shooting began. As a result of the shooting from both sides, there are victims and wounded. The Ministry of defense of Azerbaijan announced that it will inform about the losses later.
"On March 5, the units of the Azerbaijani army tried to stop vehicles carrying out illegal military cargo transportation. At the moment, as a result of the shelling from the Armenian side, there are those whose servicemen of the Azerbaijani armed forces were killed and wounded. Azerbaijani forces fired in response to the shooting,” the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.

The Azerbaijani side called on the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent to ensure the unconditional and full implementation of the clauses of the trilateral declaration. The Ministry of Defense noted that the only way that can be used between the Karabakh economic region and Armenia is Khankendi-Falcon. The Ministry announced that it would not allow the implementation of military and other cargo transportation in other directions.
The ministry added that the facts of the transfer of weapons, ammunition, other military equipment, including mines, fuel and labor, from Armenia to the Karabakh economic region were revealed earlier. The Azerbaijani side has repeatedly warned the international community about the transportation of mines along the specified route.
"Today's event once again indicates the need for Azerbaijan to organize an appropriate check-in point on the Falcon-Honkendi road. Armenia's continued military shipping to the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan shows that the country has not abandoned its occupation policy towards Azerbaijan, and Armenia's views on the Peace program are nothing more than hypocrisy. All responsibility for the provocation lies with the military-political leadership of Armenia,” the message says.
Sputnik Armenia reported that three Armenian police were killed in the shooting, and another law enforcement officer was hospitalized. The Armenian Ministry of Defense has not issued a statement on the situation.
