In order to protect the environment, flora and fauna in Uzbekistan, proposals are being developed to include in the legislation the issues of applying large fines and even announcing financial sanctions to offenders. The Minister of Natural Resources Aziz Abduhakimov announced this at the event dedicated to the International Bird Day held in the Tashkent Botanical Garden on April 1, "Daryo" correspondent reports. Aziz Abduhakimov said that in order to prevent the damage of artificial waste to nature, it is necessary to reduce productions that cause such waste. "Currently, we have prepared our proposals to the government to ban the production of several plastic-polymer products in our country," the minister said. He specifically noted that it has become normal for many people to throw waste in nature or on city streets. "If we study the experience of Singapore, Japan, or Korea, in these countries, whether it is chewing gum or tobacco residue, or polymer waste, throwing them on the street will result in a large fine. Financial sanctions are even applied to them. But we haven't implemented it yet. In the new legislation, we have taken into account just such measures. These will be included in the legislation. We are struggling with such measures to keep our city, Uzbekistan in general, clean and green. There is a saying among our people that "The place where waste is not thrown is clean, not the place where it is collected." We want to make this issue one of the slogans of our ministry," said Aziz Abduhakimov. The Minister of Natural Resources did not provide information about which norms are included in the legislation and what measures will be taken for violating them. For information, in Articles 82, 91 and 123 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility, various levels of administrative measures for damage to nature and environment are established. Earlier, Aziz Abduhakimov said that 24 species of rare birds are on the verge of extinction in Uzbekistan.
