A joint Uzbek-Italian business forum was held in Rome

More than 200 representatives of the leading business circles of the two countries took part in it

On June 6 of this year, on the eve of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Italy, a joint business forum was held in Rome. It was attended by heads of relevant ministries and agencies, as well as more than 200 representatives of the leading business circles of the two countries.

Edmondo Chirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, while opening the event, emphasized the growing interest of Italian business circles in Uzbekistan. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's upcoming visit to Italy is a historic event, his agenda rich in political and business issues, and his focus on the development of multilateral partnership, was recognized as an expression of the highest level of today's relations between our countries.

"Uzbekistan is considered a bridge between Europe and Asia, a country with strategic importance and great potential in terms of partnership. We want to participate in the modern development of Uzbekistan and are ready to deepen our multilateral relations. Entrepreneurs offer high-tech, high-quality products, show great interest and are ready to cooperate. And in this regard, we will help to fully realize the potential of bilateral cooperation," said Edmondo Chirielli.

In his turn, the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov, addressing the participants of the forum with a welcome speech, noted the importance of holding events of this scale in terms of discussing all the possibilities of deepening cooperation between the two countries. he emphasized.

It was noted that Uzbekistan is paying special attention to further strengthening of comprehensive cooperation with Italy, one of the largest trade partners in the European Union.

A number of achievements in the field of trade and investment and industrial cooperation were mentioned. In particular, in the last four years, the total volume of Italian investments attracted to Uzbekistan has increased 7 times, and the number of enterprises with the participation of Italian capital operating in our country has doubled. Among the main partners are Danieli, Pietro Fiorentini, Terranova, Finnish Opera companies operating in metallurgy, electrotechnical industry, jewelry production and agriculture, respectively.

All this indicates that bilateral cooperation has become significantly more active, and Uzbekistan-Italy relations are growing in terms of content and results.

The investment potential of Uzbekistan was presented to the heads of Italian companies at the business forum. Also, the results of the reforms implemented in our country to create favorable conditions for entrepreneurship and foreign investors' activities were discussed.

The textile industry, agriculture and processing of agricultural products, production of building materials, metallurgy, chemistry and automobile industry, electronics and many other areas were identified as the most promising directions for establishing long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the rich program of the event, meetings were held in B2B and G2B formats, and representatives of business circles were given the opportunity to discuss the practical aspects of joint implementation of concrete investment initiatives. Real cases reflecting the investment potential of the driving directions of the economy were discussed.

According to the results of the forum, investment deals and trade agreements covering energy, agriculture, chemical industry, leather and footwear, textile and machinery industry, ecology, transport and logistics, as well as the banking sector were signed.
