On May 3 of this year, a new modern seismic station was installed in Karasoy, located near the city of Jizzakh, in cooperation with the University of California (UCSD) in San Diego (USA) and the Republican Center for Seismological Prediction and Monitoring under the FVV of Uzbekistan. The data collected at the new seismic station, launched after nearly 2.5 years of preparation, is now available to users around the world, including scientists, engineers, students and the general public, according to the US Embassy. will be available through the website. As part of the US Global Seismic Network of more than 150 stations around the world, this station is funded by the US government. It is maintained and trained by the UCSD International Accelerometer Deployment Program with support from the US National Science Foundation. It is noted that the station was created to better understand global seismic activity in Uzbekistan and Central Asia. Data from the station can be used to locate earthquakes and reduce the risks they pose, which is important for public safety and basic science.
