On October 15, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku. During the event, the head of state proposed the development of a concept for establishing an infrastructure of trust in Asia.

Key points from the President’s speech at the summit:

📌 Today, the world is undergoing profound geopolitical shifts, with new threats and risks emerging. This situation necessitates closer cooperation and the joint adoption of decisions;

📌 Any conflicts or disagreements must be resolved exclusively through peaceful means—utilizing political and diplomatic channels—in accordance with international law and with due regard for the interests of all parties involved;

📌 "We are observing the confrontation in the Middle East and the humanitarian situation in Gaza with deep concern. We advocate for the swift restoration of peace and stability in this region";

📌 The primary objective of CICA should be to develop a comprehensive infrastructure for cooperation in Asia, and to create a stable system of relations built upon coordinated, predictable actions and the fulfillment of mutual commitments. 📌 It was proposed to develop a concept for establishing an infrastructure of trust in Asia, which would outline key directions for the long-term development of the Council, as well as concrete measures to expand connectivity and cooperation among states;

📌 An Asian initiative on technological trust and the responsible use of artificial intelligence was put forward;

📌 An initiative for partnership in the field of climate resilience was proposed. This would facilitate the joint implementation of water-saving technologies, the development of "green" energy, and continuous monitoring of the environmental situation;

📌 As the Council’s coordinator for the "Human Dimension," Uzbekistan places great emphasis on fostering ties in the spheres of education, culture, and humanitarian affairs, and stands ready to host a forum on human potential development next year;

📌 Uzbekistan supports efforts to further strengthen the organizational foundations of the CICA (Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia) and to refine its Charter. It is essential that the proposed initiatives are effectively implemented in practice.

Furthermore, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the summit participants to attend the Non-Aligned Movement summit, which is set to take place in Tashkent in 2027.
