Businessmen from the UAE, Afghanistan and Uzbekistan signed an agreement with the State concern “Turkmangaz” to purchase 40 thousand tons of liquefied gas for $ 15.6 million. This data comes from the last auction in which a total of 29 transactions were completed by the state Commodity Exchange of Turkmenistan for $ 30 million.

Liquefied gas ($394 per ton) and automobile gasoline ($676 per ton) were reportedly in particular demand. The final commodity deal was made by UAE and Afghan brokers, who purchased 19,000 tons of a-92 fuel for $ 12.8 million.

Turkmenistan is one of the main natural gas suppliers in Central Asia. Its gas fields contain large amounts of propane-butane, which makes it desirable to build liquefied gas production plants.

The main enterprises equipped with equipment from the USA, Canada, Germany operate near the NAIP, Bagaja, Gazlidepe and Kerven mines.

Uzbekistan switched to direct acquisition of Turkmenistan's natural gas in December 2022. A contract was signed with Turkmenistan for imports of 1.5 billion cubic meters for the winter season.

Analysts say that they are currently studying the possibility of a long-term contract with fixed prices. Two separate main pipelines pass through the territory of Uzbekistan, through which Turkmenistan exports natural gas to China and Russia.
