Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Erdoğan on the " successful nationwide elections

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Toyyib Erdoğan on 15 may.
The head of state welcomed the Turkish leader with the success of presidential and parliamentary elections in the country. According to their results, a majority of voters voted for the incumbent president and the Republican Alliance.

The results of the vote were highlighted as evidence that the Turkish people are widely supporting political updates and economic reforms under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The conversation dealt with the pressing issues of further strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey.

The importance of continuing active work on the preparation of the agenda of the next meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council was noted.

For reference, in the first round of presidential elections held in Turkey on 14 may, none of the candidates were able to gather more than the 50% of the votes needed for victory. In the calculated position of 99.2% of the vote, the incumbent president received 49.3% of the vote, while the opposition candidate Kamal Kıldıroğlu saved almost 45% of the vote. Now two weeks later, on may 28, a second round will be held between these two candidates.
