In the first round after 92% of the ballots were counted, it is known that none of the candidates could win more than 50% of the vote. This means that a second round will be held.
In Turkey, the process of counting votes in presidential and parliamentary elections continues.
According to the agency A Haber, by now 93% of the ballot boxes have been opened and votes are counted. Incumbent President Erdoğan is still ahead, but the amount of votes cast for him has dropped to 49.67 percent, indicating a second round in the presidential election two weeks later, on 28 may. The votes scored by his main rival, Kamal Saberdoğlı, reached 44.59%.
At the same time, representatives of both sides say that in practice their candidates won.
Opposition candidate Kamal Kıldıroğlu urged opposition observers across the country not to look out of the ballot boxes. He also asked the Supreme Electoral Council to publish the results of voting in major cities.
"Fiction starting at 60 percent has now fallen below 50 percent. Ballot observers and Election Commission officials should never leave their seats. We don't sleep tonight, my people," The Swordsman tweeted.
Ahmet Yyener, president of the Supreme Electoral Council of Turkey, spoke out against journalists, gave brief information and published the latest official information. According to him, Turkey officially counted 47.08% of the vote and 12.60% of the vote in overseas polling stations. He denied the charge that the announcement of official results was intentionally delayed.
The leader of the opposition, Kamal Kıldıroğlu, criticized the council for failing to present the results on time.
The opposition has repeatedly called for a critical approach to the results, saying that Election Commission officials are working in the interests of the government.
Erdoğan's Chairman of the Justice and Development Party, Umar Chelik, however, said that the vote counting process was completely transparent and should recognize the victory of all the president.
According to the private news agency Anka, 78% of the votes were cast in the calculated position of President Erdoğan - 48.5%, and in the Saberdoğlı - 45.7%.
The huge gap between the two main candidates began to shrink when the counting of votes in large cities with large populations began (at first, when about 10 percent of ballots were counted, Erdoğan was leading with about 60 percent of the vote, while the amount of Swordsman's votes was more than 34 percent).
Despite Erdoğan still leading, the results may change once the votes in Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir, the three largest cities with more supporters of the opposition, are fully calculated.
Istanbul has a population of 16 million people, while the capital Ankara and Izmir in the West have a population of 10 million. And the number of billets calculated in these three cities is less than the national average.
In particular, at the opening of 83 percent of the ballot boxes in Izmir, the Sabredeweigh was ahead with a huge advantage - 62.31 percent to 32.29 percent.
He also leads in Istanbul-in the case of 72.74% of the ballots counted, the advantage was 48.34% to 46.77%. In Ankara, however, the forces were almost equal - when 84.48% of the ballot boxes were counted, Erdoğan had 47.6% of the vote and Sabredoroğlu had 45.91%.
So far, about 45 million votes have been counted, equivalent to two-thirds of the total number of registered voters.
The final results will be officially announced only a few days later, but now it can be said that the attendance has become too high.
