In the May 14 election in Turkey, none of the presidential candidates could win more than 50% of the vote, in connection with which the country will officially hold a second round of voting.

According to the Central Election Commission of Turkey, the second stage will be held on may 28. Both major candidates expressed confidence in the final victory.

According to the results of the opening of 100% of the ballot boxes, the incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received 49.51%, the opposition candidate Kamal Sabirdaroğlu received 44.88%, and Sinan Ogan of the Ataturkchi Union received 5.17%.

“The second stage of the presidential election will take place on Sunday, may 28,” says MSK.

Previously, Homeland Party leader Muharrem Inje, the fourth candidate of the election, had stated that he would not stand. Inje said this behavior was caused by a wave of compromises that hit him during the campaign.

The politician claimed for 45 days that his fake, compromising shots were scattered in the Turkish media, and that law enforcement authorities were excluded from investigating these facts.
