Early presidential elections will be held in Uzbekistan

A corresponding presidential decree was signed. It was noted that the elections will be held in full accordance with the law, openly and openly.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that an early presidential election will be held in Uzbekistan. Presidential spokesman Sherzod Asadov reported that the decree was signed by the head of state using the authority given to the president of the country in Article 128 of the Constitution in the new edition.

"The president announced the signing of two important decrees today. The first decree provides for specific tasks for the introduction of the updated constitution into life, for the widespread promotion of its content among our people in order to ensure its implementation.

It was pointed out that it is necessary to make every paragraph and article of our general law a rule of life for our society, especially for our young people, to expand their understanding and imagination in this regard; to create training programs, textbooks and manuals for the purpose of in-depth study in each neighborhood, educational space, organization and enterprise.

Using the power granted to the president of the country in Article 128 of the updated constitution, the head of state signed a second important decree. In accordance with it, a presidential election will be held in the country ahead of schedule," the message says.

The president explained this decision.

"It is natural, of course, to ask the question of what is an objective need to come to such a decision. Why am I giving up the remaining three and a half years of presidential term on my own initiative?

Because, as you see, in accordance with our Basic Law, first of all, all branches of power are reformed, and the relationship and balance between them are seriously changing. 

Secondly, our updated constitution sets new political, social and economic tasks that cannot be delayed before the president, parliament, government, ministers, governors.

Thirdly, our people are waiting for an extremely important and relevant change and reforms in all areas from us.

Fourth, in the current situation, where Sharp and complex processes are prevailing in the world and in our region, the search for the right and effective path of development and its implementation are becoming the most acute and urgent issue.

Dear and esteemed compatriots, you all see, we are putting even greater heights in front of us today. From now on, on every issue related to the life of the state and society, today and its future development, only and only you, the wise, tolerant people, will be able to work in peace. 

In our basic law, it is not for nothing that the people are a single source of state power. From this point of view, in the updated system of state power, our people, I will say once again, it is advisable that only our people give a mandate to a leader whom they believe in. I think that in today's current conditions it will be the most correct and fair decision," the president said.

It was noted that the elections will be held in full accordance with the law, openly and openly. In this, it was expressed confidence that political parties, presidential candidates will take the field with new ideas and initiatives that will serve the peace of our country and its prosperity, the well-being of our people.

Recall that today, from May 8, the constitutional law"on amendments and additions to certain legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan" came into force. 

According to him, in the event that the president of the Republic of Uzbekistan has appointed a presidential election earlier than the term, the election will be held within two months in full accordance with the Electoral Code. In this case, the terms of preparation for the election and the implementation of measures for its holding are determined by the Central Election Commission.
