An early warning system for strong earthquakes will be launched in Uzbekistan

The presidential decree”on additional measures to further improve the system of ensuring the seismic safety of the population and territory of Uzbekistan " was adopted.
From December 1, 2023, the National system of early warning of strong earthquakes in the Republic will be launched in stages. Within the framework of this national system, monitoring of seismic events in Uzbekistan and bordering regions is carried out in real time.

When strong (5 and higher) vibrations are detected at two or more seismic stations close to the earthquake furnace, a quick notification is sent to the population about the observation of a strong earthquake in the detected areas of the Republic in short seconds through the mobile application “strong earthquake warning”.

From August 1, 2023: the” electronic platform for the implementation of seismological observations in reservoirs " will be launched; the practice of training of responsible employees working in reservoirs in the implementation of seismological and seismometric observations and primary analysis will be established every 2 years.

From January 1, 2024, the practice of developing projects of master plans of cities located in seismically active zones based on seismic microwave maps of the respective regions will be introduced. Seismic microwave mapping of Regions is developed by the Academy of Sciences.

From June 1, 2023, work will be organized to study the indicators of the existing active tectonic Earth crevices in the regions of the Republic. 

Step by step from the 2023/2024 academic year, the current educational programs of the preschool, general secondary, secondary special and professional education stages will include the rules for proper movement at the time of the earthquake.
