On May 19, the Central Election Commission held its next meeting dedicated to the election of the President of Uzbekistan ahead of schedule.
The Assembly approved the budget for the preparation and holding of the presidential election ahead of schedule.
It is noted that 19.8% of the total funds allocated from the state budget were saved for the election of representative bodies in 2019, 26% for the 2021 presidential election, and 13.5% for the 2023 referendum.
In accordance with the requirements of the Election Code, the Central Election Commission has developed an estimate of expenses related to the preparation and conduct of the presidential election ahead of schedule in the amount of 174 billion 130 million soums. It is noted that this amount is 41% less than the amount allocated for the previous presidential election.
At the meeting, it was noted that 19 billion 655 million soums or 11% of the funds allocated for election financing will be allocated for all-party events and the election campaign and promotion of the candidates nominated by the political party.
According to the cost estimate, almost 82% of the funds are allocated for organizing the activities of district and district election commissions. 76 percent of these funds are planned to be spent on compensation payments for the work of members of district and district election commissions (most of the members are teachers, doctors, and active citizens).
300 billion soums were allocated to prepare for the 2021 presidential election of Uzbekistan and finance expenses related to its holding. The costs of preparing for the referendum held at the end of April were estimated at 182 billion 386 million soums.
