On November 6, during a meeting with residents of the Sokuluk district in the Chuy region, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov stopped a woman who intended to recite a poem dedicated to him.
According to AKIpress, the woman wanted to read a poem she had written for the president, but Japarov did not allow it.
“There is no need to praise the authorities. Doing so puts both you and me in an awkward position. People will then say that I deliberately gathered ‘on-duty’ citizens just to sing my praises,” the president said.
He noted that such displays could create the impression among the public that specific individuals had been brought together solely for the purpose of praising him.
