On the sidelines of the 66th session of the UN Commission on Drugs on March 14, Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Habibullo Vohidzoda met with Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Andrey Khrapov. This is reported by NIAT "Khovar" with reference to the country's Drug Control Agency.
The sides discussed important issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, the exchange of information on the detention of citizens of states on charges of involvement in drug trafficking, the situation with drug smuggling on the Tajik-Afghan border and strengthening border control.
The process of preparation for the signing of an agreement between the Agency for Drug Control under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on cooperation and assistance to the Agency in the field of combating illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors, which is under consideration by the Russian side, is considered.
On the same day, the Director of the Agency met with the head of the delegation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Muhammad al-Karni.
The issues of strengthening cooperation in the fight against illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and chemical precursors, control over their legal turnover, as well as drug addiction prevention were discussed.
At the same time, the parties touched upon the issue of expanding the legal and contractual framework of cooperation and expressed their readiness to sign an agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of Saudi Arabia on cooperation in combating smuggling and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and chemical precursors.
Recall that the delegation of Tajikistan headed by the Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Habibullo Vohidzoda, is in Vienna (Austria) to participate in the 66th session of the UN Commission on Drugs.
