57-year-old British adventurer Karl Bushby has completed his 28-year journey around the world on foot, returning to his hometown of Hull, England. During his expedition, he covered nearly 50,000 kilometers across 30 countries on four continents.

Bushby began his journey on November 1, 1998, in Chile. His main rule was to reach home without using any form of transportation, traveling only on foot. He crossed water barriers by swimming, including the Caspian Sea and the English Channel.

Throughout his journey, he crossed jungles, deserts, and glaciers, encountered a polar bear, faced armed threats, and spent 18 days in detention in Panama. Visa and border restrictions, the 2008 financial crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic also caused significant delays.

According to Bushby, he spent approximately 15 of the 28 years actively traveling, while the remaining time was devoted to paperwork and logistical challenges.

On November 2, hundreds of people welcomed Bushby as he arrived in Hull. He reunited with his mother after nearly 10 years and met his 12-year-old grandchild for the first time.

The adventurer is now adjusting to everyday life. A documentary about his extraordinary journey is being produced, and he is also working on a sequel to his memoir.
