Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov met with Chinese Ambassador to Kazakhstan Zhang Xiao. The parties discussed a wide range of issues of interstate cooperation in various fields

 The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers stressed that China is one of the largest trading partners of Kazakhstan.

Zhang Xiao expressed the Chinese side's interest in importing agricultural products from Kazakhstan, increasing the volume of rail transportation, strengthening interregional cooperation and partnership in the IT sector.

According to him, China is currently actively assisting Kazakhstani companies in entering major Chinese trading platforms and the market as a whole.

"We believe that there is a great potential for bringing our economic relations to a qualitatively new level. We need to set new, more ambitious goals," the ambassador said.

During the meeting, the parties considered the following issues:

resumption of work of ICBC "Khorgos";

opening of the third railway crossing in the area of the automobile checkpoint "Bakhty - Pokitu";

development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route;

construction of major highways;

creation of new production facilities in mechanical engineering.

The parties noted that in the near future it is planned to resume flights between Astana and Beijing with a frequency of three flights per week, as well as simplification of procedures for mutual trips of citizens.

China accounts for 18% of the total trade turnover. China is also among the top 5 countries that invest in the economy of Kazakhstan.

Smailov outlined the government's readiness to achieve the goal set by the heads of the two states - to increase mutual trade to $ 35 billion by 2030.

"Our countries have significant potential in the field of agricultural products supplies. Kazakhstani enterprises would like to further increase the export of food products to China. In this regard, the further removal of trade barriers and restrictions is of great importance," the Prime Minister said.
