A woman has died following an attack by a grizzly bear in Canada, while her 19-year-old daughter remains missing. Reports indicate that the woman and her daughter were first reported missing over the weekend. Their vehicle was later discovered at the trailhead of a hiking path near the town of Bella Coola. During a search operation on November 1, the woman’s body was found in the area. The search for her daughter is currently ongoing. The incident took place along the Snooka-West hiking trail, located approximately 8 kilometers east of Bella Coola. Samuel Schooner, a leader of the local Nuxalk First Nation, stated that traps are being set in the area in an attempt to locate the bear involved in the attack. Notably, a grizzly bear also attacked a group of schoolchildren and their teachers in the same area last November. Eleven people were injured in that incident, though the bear was never located.
