Funding for the development of the urban infrastructure of Bishkek will be doubled. This was announced today at a press conference in the Kabar agency by the mayor of the capital Emilbek Abdykadyrov.
He noted that the relevant documents and the plan for the development of the city are being prepared jointly with the Bishkek City Kenesh.
"There are a lot of problems in the city. They've piled up. They need to be addressed. We try to approach everyone one by one. The President and the Cabinet of Ministers assessed our work as "good". Their estimate was based on the fact that Bishkek forms 40% of Kyrgyzstan's GDP. The rest of the volume is collected from 7 regions and 20 cities. This showed how important we have for the country's economy. Our revenue part is formed at the expense of taxes. Bishkek collects 47% of all taxes coming to the republican budget. We leave only 10% of them. To turn Bishkek into the capital, work is underway to increase funding from own income by 2 times," Abdykadyrov said.
The mayor noted that the rest of the capital's revenues are directed to the development of other cities and regions. He stressed that the leaders of each region should themselves be engaged in finding funds for development, and Bishkek, having great weight in the country's economy, deserves more of its own income.
