Turkmen bakhshi wins at international festival in Uzbekistan

The head of the department of bakhshi art at the Maya Kuliyeva Turkmen National Conservatory, Honored Artist of Turkmenistan Garyagdy Sariyev became the winner of the III International Bakhshi Art Festival, which was held in the city of Gulistan, Syrdarya region of Uzbekistan, the Turkmenistan newspaper writes today.
Sariyev performed the destan Soltan Söýün Baýkara and was highly appreciated by the jury. He was awarded a diploma of the international festival and a cash prize of 2.5 thousand US dollars.
Turkmenistan was also represented at the event by teachers of the Turkmen National Conservatory named after Maya Kuliyeva Rovshen Mukhammedov and Saparmurad Amanmuradov, as well as a student of this university Vepamurad Odyaev.
It is noteworthy that in 2019 another bakhshi from Turkmenistan, Honored Artist of the country Kerven Yevbasarov also won this festival.
The International Bakhshi Art Festival was initiated by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and is aimed at preserving, developing and popularizing the art of Bakhshi. It is held every two years.
