Sadr Japarov received the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament

President of Kyrgyzstan Sadr Japarov received a visiting delegation from the European Parliament headed by Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament David McAllister.

An exchange of views took place on further cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union in key areas of interaction, including regional cooperation.

Recalling the special place of the European Union in the foreign policy of Kyrgyzstan, the head of state noted that over the years of independence, relations between Kyrgyzstan and the EU have developed on the basis of trust and friendship.

Sadr Japarov noted that more than 31 years of cooperation have strengthened bilateral cooperation in almost all areas of mutual interest, including the effective interaction of inter-parliamentary relations.

The President expressed hope for further strengthening of cooperation with the EU and noted the key role of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, which is awaiting signing. One of the main directions of this cooperation is economic development.

In turn, David McAlister thanked Sadr Japarov for the warm welcome and expressed satisfaction with the development progress and the current level of bilateral relations in the political and economic spheres and the solution of regional problems.

He also expressed the readiness of the European Parliament to strengthen and deepen bilateral cooperation and provide the necessary support to Kyrgyzstan.

During the meeting, the head of the delegation of the European Parliament confirmed the invitation of the Kyrgyz side to visit Brussels.

David McAlister emphasized the important role and great contribution of Sadr Japarov to strengthening cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and the EU.

The parties confirmed their readiness to continue the dialogue on topical areas of bilateral cooperation.
