This was stated by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon during an appeal to the activists of the region.
"Only in 6 months of 2023, 20 cases of natural disasters were registered in the region," he stated.
Thus, the region lost 18 lives, the leader of the republic added.
"In general, over the past 25 years, 314 natural emergencies occurred in GBAO, as a result of which 63 citizens died," Rahmon cited the data.
According to him, the material damage from such natural phenomena for the entire period amounted to almost 300 million somoni.
A strong earthquake occurred in Gorno-Badakhshan
Earlier, in the administrative center of GBAO, a ceremony was held to hand over the building for residents. Together with the servicemen, 12 affected families from the city of Khorog, whose houses were completely destroyed as a result of an avalanche in winter, received new and modern housing in this house.
Recall that last winter a large avalanche descended in Khorog, resulting in the death of people and the destruction of many residential buildings.
