Gurban bayramy is celebrated in Azerbaijan today.

Report informs that this year the holidays fall on June 28-29.

Eid prayer will be performed in the mosques today. According to the prescription of Sharia, the sacrifice can be made within three days.

For the third year now, the Azerbaijani people have been celebrating Gurban Bayramy as a victorious people, including in the liberated territories.

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev congratulated the people on the occasion of Gurban Bayram.

The head of state conveyed his most sincere wishes to the people, wished them happiness, prosperity and well-being.

The Council of Qazis of the Caucasian Muslims Office gave recommendations on celebrating Gurban Bayram.

According to religious injunctions and rules, pilgrims making the Hajj to Mecca are required to make a sacrifice. In other places, the sacrifice of able people and the distribution of sacrificial meat to poor and indigent families is a great boon.

A sheep is usually considered the preferred sacrificial animal. However, goats, cows and camels may also be sacrificed. Everyone is free to share the meat at his own discretion, but helping the poor is closer in the spirit of our religion.

The rite of sacrifice should be performed in clean and sanitary conditions in suitable places. According to Sharia law, the sacrificial animal must be healthy and fit for slaughter. Sick, thin and deformed animals are not considered suitable for sacrifice. Usually animals that have reached a certain age are slaughtered. Goats and sheep should be about a year old, bulls and cows over one or two years old, and camels at least five years old. According to Sharia, it is important that the animal be slaughtered in the name of Allah with the intention of sacrificing facing the direction of the qibla. Sacrificial meat is mainly divided into three parts: the one who made the sacrifice takes for himself, the second is recommended to be distributed to the poor and the needy, and the third is to be given as a gift to relatives.

In order to conduct the slaughter and sale of sacrificial animals in accordance with the rules and regulations, in a safe and healthy environment, sales and slaughter of sacrificial animals will be organized throughout the country at 138 addresses.

In these outlets, customers will be presented with sacrificial animals that have passed veterinary control and slaughtered in compliance with sanitary and hygienic requirements. Along with this, in a number of regions, in agreement with the Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan, mobile tents for slaughtering animals will be installed, where sacrificial animals will be slaughtered and sold under veterinary control.

On holidays, from 08:00 to 20:00, citizens can use the above services for the sale and slaughter of sacrificial animals.

The hadiths say that prayers are accepted on the night and day of Gurban Bayram.

It should be noted that the days of Gurban Bayram have been declared non-working in Azerbaijan.
