Azerbaijani fencers win silver medal at World Cup

Today, in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent, the winners among women's teams at the stage competition of the World Sabre Cup were determined.

According to AZERTAC, our team consisting of Anna Basht, Valeria Bolshakova, Sabina Kerimova and Polina Kaspiarovich in the first match beat the Canadian team with a score of 45:38 and came in 8th place. In the 1/4 finals, our team knocked out the favorite of the tournament, the French national team with a score of 45:44. In the semifinals, our sabre players beat the Hungarian national team with a score of 45:37 and won the silver medal of the World Championship, losing in the final to the Bulgarian team with a score of 40:45.

Earlier, Anna Bashta, Zarifa Huseynova and Sabina Kerimova lost in the first match of the main stage in the individual sabre standings at the World Cup stage.
