A telephone conversation was held between the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Iran

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdullahian.

According to Report with reference to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the ministers exchanged views on issues of the bilateral and regional agenda, as well as the post-conflict situation in the region.

Issues arising from the latest meeting held between the co-chairs of the Azerbaijan-Iranian State Commission for Economic, Trade and Humanitarian Cooperation were discussed, and the contribution to the development of relations of high-level meetings and interdepartmental contacts in recent months was highly appreciated.

In particular, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian recalled with satisfaction his meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev during his visit to Azerbaijan to attend the ministerial meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement, which took place in early July.

During the telephone conversation, the importance of implementing bilateral and regional agreements reached in the field of economy and transport was stated.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov spoke about the steps taken by Azerbaijan in the post-conflict period. At the same time, it was noted that the recent allegations about the humanitarian situation around the Lachin road and in the region are nothing but political manipulation. It was emphasized that the Armenian side needs to put an end to provocations in the region, and in words and deeds respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

Regarding the issue of Islamic solidarity, Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also noted that Azerbaijan strongly condemns the recent inappropriate actions against the Holy Koran in some Scandinavian countries, and it is important to refrain from such actions against the religion of Islam.

The importance of resolving some open issues on the bilateral agenda between Azerbaijan and Iran was also noted.
