Andijan regional governor Shuhratbek Abdurahmonov allocated 730 million Uzbek soums from the region’s reserve budget fund to cover expenses related to registering the “Andijon Polka” dance in the Guinness World Records.

The governor’s decree does not specify what services or expenses the funds were used for, nor does it disclose how much of the amount was paid directly to the Guinness World Records organization.

On June 24, 20,000 participants performed the “Andijon Polka” simultaneously in Andijan, setting a new Guinness World Record. At the end of the event, a representative of Guinness World Records presented the official record certificate to Governor Shuhratbek Abdurahmonov.

Before the event, schoolchildren from the Asaka district who were travelling to rehearsals for the record attempt were involved in a road accident. As a result, one student died, while several others were injured.
