Yandex clarified the issue of transferring user data in Azerbaijan to the Russian FSB

Yandex service in Azerbaijan and other countries is provided by Dutch legal entities.
BAKU, August 10 - Sputnik. Russian law enforcement agencies do not have access to travel data of users of the Yango (Yandex.Taxi) service in Azerbaijan, the company's press service said in a statement.
"Russian legislation does not apply to Yango's international business and its users. This position will not change after September 1," the company said.
They noted that the Yango service in Azerbaijan and other countries is provided by Dutch legal entities.
"The company processes user data in accordance with the legislation of the republic and GDPR standards, and also ensures all the rights of data subjects," the press service emphasized.
Note that the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) is a set of rules for companies that collect and process EU user data online. This regulation is aimed at increasing the level of protection and giving citizens control over their data.

They also indicated that data related to the operation of the service outside of Russia can only be requested through an official request from the Dutch authorities to a Dutch legal entity and only within the framework of established international procedures.
The press service emphasized that the company has high standards of security policy, which are confirmed by an international public report on reliability criteria.
It should be noted that from September 1, a new law on taxis comes into force in Russia, which, among other things, provides for the obligation of taxi services to provide the Federal Security Service with access to the database used to receive, store, process and transfer orders.

The Russian government has already approved the procedure for transferring such data to law enforcement agencies - we are talking about "round-the-clock remote access" in the case of a company operating via the Internet.
It should be noted that the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia has begun to verify the legality of the processing of user data by the Yandex Go service.
Recall that in addition to Russia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, Yango also operates in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and other countries.
