According to Xiaomi CEO Lei Xun, the new factory will be a "black factory" that can operate 24 hours a day without people. In addition, machines in the factory can communicate with each other and the factory can independently maintain cleanliness by cleaning dust at the micron level.

Xiaomi invested $330 million to develop a new production process. The black factory is certified as a "national information intelligent manufacturing enterprise" with the annual production capacity of 10 million flagship smartphones.
