World's oldest person dies

On April 30, Brazilian nun Inax Canabarro Lucas died at the age of 116 years and 326 days. She was the world's oldest person.
Lucas, who suffered from poor health in her youth, became a nun in 1928 and later taught. She received the COVID vaccine at age 112 and beat the virus at age 113.
She was recognized as the world's oldest person after the death of Tomiko Itooka in 2024. The title has now been passed to 115-year-old Ethel Caterham of England.
